VIGIL MASS AND VIP EVENING RECEPTION
Our pre-event celebrations will take place on Monday evening at the Saint John Paul II National Shrine. Located in Northeast DC, the beautiful JPII Shrine features plenty of free parking and/or is a quick Uber ride from downtown DC.
Holy Mass will be celebrated by our keynote speaker, Most Reverend Steven Lopes. Mass will be celebrated according to Divine Worship, a form of the Mass approved by the Holy See specifically for the Ordinariate. Clearly part of the Roman Rite, Divine Worship also accommodates language, ritual, and gestures that express the Anglican liturgical tradition, albeit now in full communion with the Catholic Church. This form of the Mass has its roots in the Saurm Usage approved for use in and around Salisbury Cathedral in the 11th century which heavily influenced the first Anglican Book of Common Prayer in 1549. Pope Francis approved the Ordinariate Missal for Mass in 2015. No ticket is required for Holy Mass, but guests are asked to RSVP for planning purposes.
VIP Cocktail Reception (a separate ticket is required, $99). Heavy hors d’oeuvres, full bar, live jazz, and a brief reflection will be offered.
